Language and Literacy Lab

The Language and Literacy Lab offers free, individualized support to help students strengthen their reading, writing, and language skills across all courses and disciplines. Trained tutors work one-on-one or in small groups with students at every stage of the writing process, from brainstorming and organizing ideas to revising drafts and polishing grammar and mechanics.

Who We Serve

The lab welcomes students at any skill level, including:

  • Students working on essays, research papers, or personal statements.
  • Multilingual learners and English language learners building fluency and confidence.
  • Students preparing for placement tests or working on foundational reading comprehension.
  • Anyone seeking feedback on tone, clarity, or organization in academic or professional writing.

What to Expect
Sessions are collaborative rather than editorial: tutors guide students toward stronger writing and reading strategies instead of simply correcting papers for them. Students should bring assignment guidelines, drafts, or reading materials to make the most of each session.

Appointments can typically be scheduled online or on a walk-in basis, depending on availability.
