October 2023: Student Success

Hallie Angelos, a Machine Tool Technology student, has been recognized as the October 2023 Student Success Story at Gillette College. Hallie was nominated by her instructor, Tony Giest, for this honor after only a few weeks into the Fall 2023 semester. He recommended Hallie for recognition because of her work ethic both in the classroom and outside of it.

She graduated from Thunder Basin High School and chose to attend GCCD for the cost and the hands-on education she would get. She opted to live on-campus, residing in Inspiration Hall, and works off-campus while being a student at Gillette College. Her instructor, Tony, noticed at the beginning of the semester that she would be successful. “From the first time I met Hallie, she knew she wanted to learn as much as possible about machine tool technology and be the best. She has stayed very focused, engaged and is completing assignments ahead of time,” he said when nominating her.

Hallie was recognized at the Advisory Board Meeting on October 11 and the Board of Trustees Meeting on October 18. “It’s wonderful to hear success stories about our students, and I was impressed with Hallie the moment I saw her nomination. Her experience as a concurrent student while at Thunder Basin High School to becoming a full-time student at Gillette College is a testament to the opportunities Gillette College offers our community,” said President Dr. Janell Oberlander.

Congratulations to Hallie on her success so far at Gillette College!
