DESCRIPTION:Gillette College – Community Education \n\n\n\nOpen House Showcases Non-Credit Learning Opportunities \n\n\n\nDid you know that Gillette College offers more than just “traditional” college classes?  Gillette College’s Community Education Group offers courses that can help you build new skills\, prepare for emergencies\, or develop a new hobby\, all by using new and innovative technologies that make learning exciting. \n\n\n\nCome learn about all these programs at our Open House on Saturday\, February 1\, from 10 AM to 2 PM at the Gillette College Technical Education Center.  This event is perfect for families interested in programming for school-age children and for adults curious about developing new skills or hobbies. \n\n\n\nGillette College’s Community Education Group consists of Area 59\, Gillette College’s cutting-edge technology maker space\, Workforce & Community Development\, which offers non-credited certification programs such as the new Commercial Driver’s Licence program and others to help learn new job skills\, and Industry Safety Training\, which offers nationally recognized workplace training\, including First Aid\, CPR\, and Emergency Preparedness\, as well as all levels of MSHA required courses. \n\n\n\nWhat’s in store for the Open House? \n\n\n\nArea 59 will demonstrate some of the technology available for use in their 10\,000-square-foot facility.  Kids will get hands-on experience interacting with technology and learn about the Verizon Innovative Learning STEM Achievers program and other programs available to them year-round.  Adults can learn about the tools\, technology\, and classes available to the public at this world-class facility. \n\n\n\nWorkforce & Community Development will demonstrate its new CDL simulator!  Come and test drive a semi-truck\, snowplow\, or school bus.  This state-of-the-art simulator allows the operator to drive vehicles under a variety of weather and traffic conditions.  \n\n\n\nYou can also experience augmented reality through zSpace.  zSpace allows Workforce & Community Development students to learn about and disassemble mechanical pumps and components in 3D. \n\n\n\nFinally\, Industry Safety Training will give kids hands-on experience using a fire extinguisher\, applying a bandage\, and preparing for emergencies. \n\n\n\nCome join us for this exciting community event.  Whether you’re an individual curious to explore\, a business eager to connect and support education\, or a volunteer with a skill to share\, this event offers a unique opportunity to engage\, learn\, and contribute.  Come explore the tools shaping the future of education – and the opportunities they bring to our community. \n\n\n\nSee you on February 1!
